A once-in-a-generation opportunity

Welcome to the Northern Park Lands – the future of northern Adelaide’s natural spaces. This is a rare chance to create vibrant, lasting public spaces that will enrich lives for generations to come.

About the Northern Park Lands

The Northern Park Lands will be a new network of public open spaces connecting the Hills Face to the Gawler River, via Karbeethan Reserve and along the Gawler and South Para Rivers. The Park Lands will create a continuous green corridor between the Kudla Growth Area and Gawler, providing places for people to relax, play and connect with nature while protecting and restoring river environments and native vegetation.

Our vision

Together, we’re making the Northern Park Lands inclusive, sustainable and meaningful for all South Australians, honouring our shared heritage and supporting vibrant community life.

Lasting protection

The Northern Parklands Act 2025(the Act) establishes a framework to protect and manage the Northern Park Lands for the benefit of current and future generations. The Act ensures land within the Northern Park Lands is preserved for environmental, recreational and community purposes, and provides clear management arrangements to guide its long-term care.

Northern Park Lands Master Plan

ASPECT Studios, leading landscape architects based in Adelaide, are preparing a Master Plan to guide the future of the Northern Park Lands, reflecting community needs and aspirations for open space and recreation. Investigations to inform the master plan are currently underway, with community consultation scheduled to commence in August 2026.

Transparency and engagement

We’re committed to transparency and open communication. The Northern Park Lands Trust values collaboration at every stage and from everyone in the community as well as our key stakeholders, councils, state government, local sporting groups, environmental advocates and First Nations groups. Careful, staged planning means the community can see shape and celebrate the transformation as it progresses.

We’ll keep you updated as key milestones are reached, so everyone stays informed and involved.
